Amethyst, photographed by Urban Flash PhotographyThe director of ElectroBelly Dance Troupe (professional) and Tribe of Azhar (students), Amethyst has been bellydancing since 1997, and teaching since 2001.
Amethyst is a graduate of the Ansuya Comprehensive (taught by Bellydance Superstar Ansuya), having earned her certification in San Francisco and Miami.
Amethyst has taken workshops and lessons of a variety of styles, with popular instructors Karim Nagi/Turbo Tabla (Egyptian style), Deniz of Caravan Workshops (Lebanese, Turkish, Greek, Egyptian styles), Rachel Kay Brookmire of Sahara Dance (Washington, DC)(Classical Egyptian style), and Elizabeth "Artemis" Mourat (Silver Spring, MD) (Turkish styles).
Amethyst is the original creator of Pittsburgh's ElectroBelly parties - parties which include a bellydance show followed by a DJ'd open dance party with a blend of electronic and world music styles. ElectroBelly parties include bellydancers, singers, musicians, electronic music DJs, and guest acts such as break dancers, hoop dancers and more.
Amethyst co-stars in the performance DVD "ElectroBelly", with dancers Shanti and Astarte.
Amethyst teaches multiple weekly bellydance classes for various levels, and performs regularly.

Amethyst enjoys the spirituality of bellydance. She offers Sacred Dance workshops in addition to bellydance. Along with dancer Aviva, Amethyst has offered free bellydance workshops and shows to cancer patients at Magee Women's Hospital, as a volunteer community service. Amethyst has been organizing fundraising events for vegan-approved charities since 1995, and has focused largely on HIV prevention charities and (human, animal and environmental) protection groups.Site by Tony Zilionis.
